Wisdom from the Land — Applied to Your Place & Purpose
Whether you're stewarding a wild canyon, planning a resilient garden, or building a nonprofit rooted in place and purpose, Arroyo Sage Outdoor School offers grounded, thoughtful guidance.
Founder Tim Martinez brings over 15 years of experience in land management, habitat restoration, and outdoor education. He has advised cities and agencies across Southern California — including Pasadena, Glendale, and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County — on urban forestry, biodiversity, and regenerative land use practices, bringing valuable perspective from years of civic engagement.
Tim’s consultations weave together ancient practices, native plant wisdom, and real-world experience in environmental stewardship and community development. This is not one-size-fits-all — it's collaborative, site-specific, and always in conversation with the land.
Native Habitat Garden Design
Create lush, low-water gardens that nourish pollinators, support wildlife, and reflect our local ecosystems. I help design spaces rooted in native ecology and cultural plant use.
Homestead & Survival Garden Planning
Grow with resilience. Whether you're planning a self-reliance garden, medicinal herb plot, or seasonal crops like the Three Sisters, I can help integrate traditional wisdom with practical systems.
Fire-Resilient Vegetation Management
Balance fire safety and biodiversity. I specialize in sensitive vegetation management strategies that meet compliance standards while preserving native habitat and soil health.
Ecological Land Stewardship Plans
From hillside restoration to canyon protection, I provide site-specific strategies for long-term ecological care — informed by over 15 years of hands-on land work in Southern California.
Nonprofit Program Development and Community Building
With years of experience supporting nonprofits and serving as a city commissioner, I offer guidance on curriculum, land-based programming, and authentic community engagement — especially with Indigenous partners.
Traditional Skills Education & Public Engagement Strategy
Want to bring nature-based programming to your organization, school, or preserve? I can help craft offerings in ethnobotany, survival skills, and outdoor education that speak to people’s roots.
